GETTING AROUND MONTREAL
Concordia’s Sir George Williams campus is in the heart of downtown Montreal and easily accessible by the métro (Station Guy-Concordia on the green line). If arriving by air at the Montreal-Trudeau Airport (YUL), the 747 bus runs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day between the airport and downtown Montreal. Fare is $10 and will provided unlimited travel on STM transportation (bus and métro) for 24 hours. Some other fares are also accepted, as detailed on the STM website. Several hotels also offer shuttle service from the airport. For those who prefer taxis, there is a fixed fare of $40 between YUL and downtown Montreal. Uber is also available in Montreal.
Those arriving by train will arrive at Central Station (Gare Centrale), which is within walking distance or a short cab ride away from the SGW campus. Central Station is not part of the métro network, but is only a block away from Station Bonaventure (connected via underground tunnel) and Station Square-Victoria-OACI on the orange line.
Montreal is a fairly pedestrian-friendly city, but our winters are cold and there’s often still a lot of snow or slush on the ground in March. Be sure to bring warm, waterproof boots if you’re planning on walking.
There are several options for accommodations around Montreal and near Concordia’s downtown campus and this is by no means an exhaustive list. Please note that while these prices were accurate when collected, they may not be up to date when you book, and we encourage all panelists from out of town to do their own research. If you are having trouble finding accommodations, email email@example.com and we’ll see what we can do to help.
All information here is based on the cheapest available rate for a two-night stay during the weekend of this year’s colloquium and was current as of July 2017.

FOOD AND DRINK
The conference will be catering breakfast and lunch on Saturday and snacks throughout the two days free of charge. For dinner, there are numerous options with various degrees of affordability within walking distance from the campus. Montreal has much in the way of vegan and vegetarian restaurants, such as CopperBranch and the Green Panther which are both just a block away. Feel free to contact the organizers for recommendations.
Directions to: LB 646, in the J. W. McConnell Building
From street level, use the three rightmost elevators in the lobby to get to the 6th floor. The leftmost elevator will not access the 6th floor.
Once you step out of the elevator on the 6th floor, turn to the right and follow the main hallway, which hooks left. LB-646 is located directly opposite the English Department front desk.
Directions to: Reggies, in the Henry F. Hall Building
From street level, you will find two sets of stairs and one escalator (the one on the right, if you’re facing it) leading up to the mezzanine level.
Elevators can be accessed from the lobby, essentially behind the stairs/escalators. Walk under the mezzanine level, and the elevator doors will be in between the two staircases, around the corner. Take it up to the mezzanine level.
Once you’ve exited the elevators or stepped off the escalator, walk in a more or less straight line towards the Hive Café Coop, then turn left. Reggies is the very next suite, with the black entrance.
Directions to: LB 361, located inside R. Howard Webster Library, in the J. W. McConnell Building
From street level, use only the leftmost elevator to get to the second floor entrance to the library. The three elevators to the right will not access the library.
Alternatively, walk just past the elevators to the wood-paneled staircase, up to the library entrance.
Once you’ve entered the library, turn left to find the stairs that are located on the de Maisonneuve side of the building. Take them up one flight, then turn left towards the Bishop side of the building. The open entrance to LB 361 is located around the corner, just past the men’s washroom.
You will find the library’s internal elevators to the right of the entrance, facing the glassed atrium. Take them up to the 3rd floor, and upon exiting turn left. Follow the main hallway towards the stairs on de Maisonneuve side of the building, then turn right towards the Bishop side of the building. The open entrance to LB 361 is located around the corner, just past the men’s washroom. If the doors are closed and you need assistance (they’re rather heavy), please contact the Concordia Colloquium Facebook page in order for one of the organizers to come open them. You can find them @concolloquium in the Facebook Messenger app.
If you’re worried about being able to contact us, please send us a message or email in advance, and we will happily coordinate an alternative option with you.
